A Febi Bilstein replacement nitrogen accumulator sphere for the Mercedes-Benz hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension system fitted to the W116 450SEL 6.9 and W126 models with option code 487 (Hydropneumatic Spring Suspension).

These spheres contain pressurised nitrogen gas separated by a diaphragm, acting as the spring element in the hydropneumatic suspension system. Over time the diaphragm deteriorates and the nitrogen charge is lost, resulting in a collapsed, harsh, or uneven ride. Replacement restores the system to correct ride height and compliance.

This is the Blue sphere — identified as 'Blue' in the Mercedes-Benz EPC. The centre sphere is a different part (A 126 320 07 15, identified as 'Red') and is listed separately.
